Published Author Visits PAES

Mrs C, our PAES Librarian, works closely with Barnes & Noble for our book fairs and school and classroom libraries. Recently, a representative from Barnes and Noble called Mrs. C to see if we would be interested in having a children's author come and speak to our kids and read one of her new books to them.

Of course Mrs. C. was very excited and coordinated the visit of Annie Barrows to PAES!! Annie Barrows is a New York Times best-selling author best known for her Ivy + Bean series of children’s books. Barrows introduced and read from her new book, The Best of Iggy, to 2nd-5th graders last Thursday in our school library.  It was such a neat experience for our students to meet a real author and to hear her read her own work and explain how she came up with ideas for it.   She also left signed copies of her new book for sale here in the office.

Thank you to Mrs. C.  and the Clackamas Barnes & Noble for such a special treat!!

K/1st Grade Nutcracker Performance

main image

We are in the full swing of all things holidays on campus! While we are all anxious for the upcoming break, there is much to enjoy about the days of  school leading up to that time off.

To that point, we rounded out last week being treated to a Nutcracker performance put on by Ms. Swarner's K/1st grade class. What a sweet bunch of ballerinas, soldiers and little mice they were!!! Their performance closely followed the traditional Nutcracker story we are accustomed to, just less lengthy. We started off with Marie at the Christmas party where and then traveled to the Land of Sweets. The entire school watched a dress rehearsal performance on Thursday, and K/1st grade families had a private show after school on Friday afternoon.

Before both performances a special offering was collected. Ms. Swarner's class decided to raise money to go toward purchasing a pair of goats for a family in Uganda through ADRA. Thank you to all who generously gave, over $130 was given!!!

Thank you to Mrs. Ashlock's Middle School Art class for creating the lovely backdrop artwork and to Mrs. Stinson's 2nd grade for the adorable Nutcrackers that nicely dressed up the stage!!!
