ENROLLMENT For your child's safety, and to comply with the state standards, all enrollment papers must be completed before attendance begins. This includes the child's medical information. Immunization records are due at time of registration. SIGNING IN AND OUT Children must be signed in and out daily by the person who brings them and picks them up. The staff cannot do this for you. Please be sure that your child is left with a staff member when arriving. RELEASE OF CHILDREN FROM THE SCHOOL Children are only released to individuals other than the parents when written authorization has been received prior to the child being picked up. If there is any question the teacher may call parents for clarification. In addition, strangers to the staff may be required to show identification. This is for the child's protection. WHEN YOUR CHILD IS ILL We cannot care for children who are ill. If your child is sick, please do not bring him/her to the school. We observe each child daily for signs of communicable disease or other illness. If your child becomes ill during the day, he will be isolated, and we will notify you to come get him. CLOTHING The children are involved in a variety of activities, including outdoor play, even when the weather is somewhat damp. Therefore, please dress your child in washable play clothes and provide warm jackets. Girls are encouraged to wear pants or tights with dresses especially in cold weather. Jewelry such as earrings, rings, ankle or wrist bracelets and necklaces are unacceptable. If you plan on having your child’s ears pierced please do so during the summer months so studs are not worn at school. LABELING ITEMS All items brought by your child must be labeled with their name using a laundry marking pen (if fabric) or other permanent marking. We cannot be responsible for lost or broken toys. If it cannot be played with or shared, label it as a "Show and Share" item. FIELD TRIPS Parents must give written approval for their child to go on field trips. Forms are provided for this purpose. You will receive written notice of all field trips. BIRTHDAYS If you wish to provide a treat for the children to celebrate your child's birthday, please arrange this in advance with the teacher. MESSAGES Please pin any message for the teacher to your child's clothing or backpack if you cannot personally give it to a staff member. Please check the parent board and backpack daily for notices and messages from the teacher to you. LUNCH AND SNACKS Our lunches and snacks are planned with your child's nutrition needs in mind. We serve a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet, emphasizing vegetable protein, fruit, vegetables, and whole grains. If your child cannot eat certain foods due to allergies or other reasons, please indicate this when you enroll. We are required by the State of Oregon to serve snacks in the morning and afternoon. If you do not want your child to receive snacks, please indicate this in writing. If your child arrives before 7:50 NAPPING A daily nap time is observed, usually from 1:00 p.m. until about 2:45 p.m. During this time all the children rest and/or sleep on mats. DISCIPLINE At King's Kids, discipline follows a Love and Logic format which encourages children to accept responsibility for their own behavior. On occasion children may be assigned a time out. The use of physical punishment is not permitted, nor is withholding food from a child. TOILET TRAINING Children are accepted at the age of 3 years (Younger children are not eligible for admittance). We do expect that they be completely toilet trained. This includes self clean-up. Children must be completely free of any form of diapers, “pull-ups” included. We do understand occasional accidents and request that a change of clothing be kept at school for any necessary changes. CHILD ABUSE REPORTING If a staff member suspects that a child has been abused, he or she is required by law to report it to the Children's Services Division of the State of Oregon. VISITING THE SCHOOL AND TALKING WITH THE STAFF You are welcome to visit the school at any time. We welcome your comments, suggestions, and questions. Please check in at the office before visiting a room. We do request that any lengthy discussions with teachers and other staff members be held by appointment, so that the teachers can properly supervise the children during the day. This also includes lengthy conversations on the playground. Children not enrolled at PAES are not allowed to play on the playground during drop-off or pick-up time. |
