This year (2008-2009) finds me “re-inventing” myself as I return to teaching 5th and 6th grades after 8 years as a Junior High History teacher. I am looking forward to a self-contained classroom and the ability to have a stronger relationship with my students and watch them grow and prepare for Junior High. As is consistent with my philosophy of education, I approach all my classes from a practical and personally relevant standpoint, focusing on mastery, application, comprehension and enjoyment of learning. My classes will still center around history themes and be project based.. |

About me! I began teaching in 1979 in Rochester, MN and have taught grades 1—10 over the years in MN, AR, VA, and now OR. Outside of school I raise and train horses, travel, hike, and enjoy music of a variety of genres. I have received 3 Don Keele Excellence in Education awards and been nominated to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers 6 times. During the 2007-2008 school year I was a presenter at both the National Council of Social Studies and the Organization of American Historians Annual Conferences. |

History made fun is history made interesting. History that is interesting, is learned well. |

Welcome to my home page! The study of history here at PAES is intended to connect students to their families, the past, and the future. By integrating technology and best teaching practices students are prepared for high school and life. It is my aim to create a learning environment that also prepares students for “the real world” - learning to use various research and presentation tools, working together with peers to create a product, and problem solving. Students also understand the connections between the past, present, and future and learn how they are creating history through the choices they make. History is fun and interesting! |
