A “beary” friendly place for children to learn...

· Multiage classrooms include students from two or more grade levels.

· In every classroom there is a range of student achievement levels and students are taught the curriculum appropriate for their needs.

· Younger students in the classroom have older students to look up to as role models both in academics and social learning.

· Older students have the opportunity for leadership and to act as role models for other children.  This leadership opportunity has been shown to improve children’s self esteem.

· Children can benefit emotionally and academically in a multiage classroom,  i.e. the following year can begin quickly as routines, expectations and a relationship are already established in the classroom environment.  Children take off as learners on the first day of school.
