We live in a Christian School Community . . . discipline,
appearance, generosity and positive attitudes.

DISCIPLINE

Discipline is the means to create a safe and caring environment.  At Portland Adventist Elementary school student discipline fosters and encourages a Christian community.  We believe individuals in a Christian community:

·  Have respect for God, oneself, others and the environment.
·  Accept responsibility for themselves.
·  Accept consequences for their actions.
·  Develop a positive self-image and learn to the best of their ability.

It is a privilege to attend P.A.E.S.  The strength of this community is dependent upon the level of cooperation between student, home and school.  The child will:

·  Grow in a positive self-concept.
·  Appreciate the personal worth and dignity of each individual.
·  Grow in knowledge.
·  Learn to make sound judgments based on Christian values.
·  Think independently.

APPEARANCE

·  Wear neat, clean and appropriate clothing for the school activity.
·  Earrings, rings, necklaces, or bracelets should not be worn to school.
·  Clothes having messages with inappropriate meanings or advertising are unacceptable.
·  Walking shorts are acceptable.
·  Make up should look natural.

"Family Worship"

On Friday mornings between 8:30-9:30 a.m. students in grades K-4 and 5-8 assemble to participate in singing, prayer, special music and public speaking.  Children learn leadership.  Usually there are special guest speakers.  students participate in giving mission offerings for various worthwhile projects such as food baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas, aid to the homeless, etc.
